Major Lazer - Get Free feat. Amber (of Dirty Projectors)

A different sound for Major Lazer, I’ve actually been playing this on repeat in some form for the past couple of days. This plays Major Lazer out to be some kind of sentimental badass, and I’m completely OK with that. Amber Coffman’s vocal work on this is spot-on too.

Major Lazer is a rock/dancehall/reggae project that used to be comprised of producers Diplo and Switch, but apparently Switch left the due to “creative differences” in late 2011 :( no update on the Adult Swim they were working on for Major Lazer either.

Bonus: Major Lazer Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1

DO NOT MISS: The Bonde do Rolê remix of this track, the Brazilian announcer at the beginning of this track just nails the favela aesthetic so. damn. well.

The Summer Circuit - One Giant Leap
I received the following submission, the music is great, and the money goes to an excellent cause, the Ronald McDonald House charity (you can read about why it’s going there). Give the music a list and donate if you can.

Hi Dannel!
My name is Chris Gordon and the name of my music project is The Summer Circuit. It’s pop music with an indie vibe and varied instrumentation with electronic elements and acoustic elements. I just put out a new album and I’m distributing it in a pay-what-you-want format with all of the proceeds going to the Ronald McDonald House Charity.
You can read more about the project here: http://www.thesummercircuit.com/
Thanks for listening man!
- Chris Gordon

Notably, here’s a few things about the sounds used in the album:
“You’ll hear a modded Speak & Spell toy used as a drum machine, brass, strings, celesta, glockenspiel, and even chiptune elements.”
Bravo Chris, consider my heartstrings plucked. I’M NOT CRYING, MY FACE JUST DOES THIS SOMETIMES :’D
p.s. if you only have time to listen to one track, make it “Growing Up”
