    SEXY-SYNTHESIZER - Chippy Sleng Teng

You may recognize this riddim, you may not. It’s perhaps the most rerecorded of all the classic Jamaican reggae riddims. Seriously, the wiki article is worth a read. Japan’s SEXY-SYNTHESIZER does Jamaican music’s first fully computerized riddim justice with this chipmusic cover.

    Happy weekend y’all! B-)

Major Lazer - Get Free feat. Amber (of Dirty Projectors)

A different sound for Major Lazer, I’ve actually been playing this on repeat in some form for the past couple of days. This plays Major Lazer out to be some kind of sentimental badass, and I’m completely OK with that. Amber Coffman’s vocal work on this is spot-on too.

Major Lazer is a rock/dancehall/reggae project that used to be comprised of producers Diplo and Switch, but apparently Switch left the due to “creative differences” in late 2011 :( no update on the Adult Swim they were working on for Major Lazer either.

Bonus: Major Lazer Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1

DO NOT MISS: The Bonde do Rolê remix of this track, the Brazilian announcer at the beginning of this track just nails the favela aesthetic so. damn. well.
