Pretty sure I’ll have listened to this at least half a dozen times by the time you read this, Cheap Dinosaurs is a seemingly ever-growing collective of Philly chip musicians whose first release has been a long time in the making. I had only heard bits and pieces of Cheap Dinosaurs before today, their pseudo-single “Stroll” gave me goosebumps and so did most of the performances I’ve been able to find on YouTube.
Their label, Data Garden has an interesting statement about the nature of digital music. You can purchase the Cheap Dinosaurs release on a screen-printed piece of paper with album art on one side and a download code on the other. You can then use the same seed paper to grow some blue lobelias.
